The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) promotes on paper that member venues follow high animal welfare standards and prohibits animal shows or close encounters. But many member venues do not follow these guidelines and WAZA hasn't removed their membership status. Behind that WAZA membership, these venues hide their activities and are promoted by travel and tourism companies as high welfare venues, when the reality tells another story. On assignment for World Animal Protection documenting in Buenos Aires, Argentina an offline activity asking WAZA to raise their standards and to protect animals from cruel venues and practices.
