Otter Cafe's: A Cruel trend

On assignment for World Animal Protection

Tokyo, Japan. A social media trend has created a booming business of exotic animal cafe's in the city. Otters are kept in tiny transparent boxes, and some with a leash in case you would like to pay extra for a walk. Paying by the hour and charged extra for walks, close encounters or to feed the animals, this cafe kept full of people while I was there. Otters are caught from the wild, usually, their mothers are killed and the cubs are sold in the international market. These others may have come from a long journey of suffering. On assignment for World Animal Protection.
